This book of ensemble rhythms from all over Africa, Haiti and Cuba represents a collection that took 25 years to complete. The easy to follow charts are perfect for forming drum circles of 3 to 7 drummers as well as additional parts for cowbell, claves and shekere players. It is also a once in a lifetime opportunity for individual conga drummers to expand their repertoire dramatically.

This instructional CD contains 6 ensemble conga rhythms for 3 to 8 players including accompanying percussion parts such as cowbells etc. The various parts of each rhythm are played separately, then gradually added together and finally played all together. This allows the listener to play along for a minute or two or just practice any individual pattern. Each pattern and tempo is described vocally, then demonstrated on a drum. The rhythms included are:  BUMBA and DANCE CONGA from Haiti, SHIKO from Nigeria, COMPARSA from Cuba, ODJEMBE from the Congo and KPANLOGO from Ghana. The inside jacket features a diagram of the three basic hand positions and the running time is 68 minutes.
